Ascension St. Joseph Foundation honors two physicians with the Spirit of St. Joseph Award
The Ascension St. Joseph Foundation is pleased to announce the 2022 Spirit of St. Joseph Award will honor two physicians – Christopher Landrey, DO, and Christopher Oravitz, MD.
The award honors physicians who exemplify compassionate service to others, generosity of time and resources to the community, and a demonstrated commitment to Ascension St. Joseph’s core Values of Service to the Poor, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity and Dedication.
“Dr. Landrey and Dr. Oravitz are so deserving of this recognition. We are truly blessed to have them at Ascension St. Joseph to help bring babies into the world and provide exceptional care to their mothers before, during and after pregnancy,” said Shane Hunt, Hospital Administrator, Ascension St. Joseph Hospital. “These two physicians are genuine individuals who focus on the patient, providing them with personalized care plans for every stage of life. With Ascension’s continued investment in our hospital, we are excited to be building a modern-day birthing center in which these physicians and staff will continue to provide compassionate, person-centered care.”
Dr. Landrey is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has special interests in minimally invasive surgery and robotics. Dr. Landrey came to Michigan from southern California in 2000, after graduating from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Saginaw through Synergy Medical Education Alliance, now CMU College of Medicine. When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Landrey enjoys the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family.
Dr. Oravitz is also board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and has 29 years of experience providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, family planning and menopausal care. He joined Ascension St. Joseph in 2018 as a full-time provider. Before coming to Tawas, Dr. Oravitz was in private practice for 25 years and served as an Assistant Physician Director with the Central Michigan University Health Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program in Saginaw. A Michigan native, he graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. He attended the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU) and also completed an obstetric and gynecology residency at MSU. Dr. Oravitz has been married to his wife Sara for 31 years, and they have raised five children.
